The Bridge at Mount Batten occupies a stunning waterside spot, overlooking the busy Yacht Haven Marina on the outskirts of Plymouth. It is a fantastic location for simply enjoying a drink or eating out.

The Turtley Corn Mill in Avonwick & The Bridge in Plymstock are family run businesses that work together, this in the past has posed many problems with communications across the two sites, which as many businesses will know, this is easier said than done – this is where ICOM SW come into play.

The situation of the businesses at point of contact

ICOM were instructed to take over from BT three years ago after Bruce (the owner) found their level of customer service was poor and the cost astronomical.

Why did these businesses need to improve their business telecoms?

Each of the two businesses had their own reasons for needing improved communications.

In 2014 The Turtley Corn Mill at Avonwick underwent a major refit and needed relocation and upgrading to the business telephone system that had previously been installed throughout did not enable great internal communications for staff or external communications for guests from the broadband service.

The Bridge at Plymstock needed to upgrade the current business telephone system that would enable the bar staff and kitchen staff smoother and more efficient way of communicating with each other, as they are in different areas of the building.

The final challenge was both businesses needed a way of communicating between each other, preferably without the associated costs of external calling.

What was the solution for the Turtley Cornmill & the Bridge?

ICOM started with a full survey of both business premises, this survey took into consideration the needs of the business, as well as the aesthetics that needed to keep their integrity due to the nature & architecture of the two buildings.

Once the survey was completed, ICOM provided a full breakdown of the work needed, along with the associated costs to ensure that both met the needs of the businesses. The client quickly agreed this on the basis that the work required was cost effective and the right solution.

After agreement was reached ICOM moved on to the design and installation of the business telecoms for both businesses, ensuring that it was sympathetic to the surroundings. ICOM worked to ensure that the installation was completed to specification and without any disruption to its customers, an area that the client was very specific about.

The final result was that both businesses had a completely new business telephone system, new cabling & a line of FREE communication between each other, which met all the needs of the client in the original brief.
